Tom received a BA in Chemistry and a BS in
Chemical Engineering in 1974 from the
University of Kentucky. He is a registered
professional environmental engineer period with
interests in the development of bio-based
resources for energy, fuels and products.
He received a MS degree in Agricultural
Engineering in 1994 and a PhD in Biological
Engineering in 2000 from the University of
Georgia.

During the past 10 years Tom accomplished over
120 energy and resource sustainability analyses
for industries.
These analyses identified major cost savings and carbon emission reduction opportunities for clients via: energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, solid waste management, wastewater reuse, byproduct recovery and water management.

He led the development of the sustainable
energy management plan for the University of
Georgia and the development of the energy plan
for the University System of Georgia’s Board of
Regents. His many years of experience in byproduct recovery and energy efficiency projects for the pulp and paper operations, sugar mills, petroleum refineries and petrochemical plants
provided a background of knowledge that he
broadly applies to other industries.

Tom has provided technical expertise in energy and environmental sustainability for electric utilities, bioenergy facilities, forest products companies, food processors, biofuels plants, textile and carpet mills, agribusiness companies and financial institutions.
